City and Guilds
The English Study Centre is a recognised Examination Centre. Examinations in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) are available at five levels: Basic, Elementary, Intermediate, Higher Intermediate and Advanced. These levels correspond to levels 2,3,4,5,6 and 7 of the English Speaking Union framework and the examinations are suitable for anyone who needs a certificate of their general ability in the Use of English. The higher levels are recognised by many Universities and Colleges for matriculation purposes.

The exam lasts between 2 and 3 hours, depending on level, and tests listening, English usage, reading and writing.

City and Guilds examinations can be arranged for groups or individuals who can give at least 3 weeks notice. The examination fee is approximately £35 per candidate.

Examination Advice
The English Study Centre also provides an advice service on IELTS, TOEFL and Cambridge examinations, and we are happy to recommend the examination which would prove most useful for each student's particular requirements. Every assistance is also given to students who wish to apply for admission to Universities or Colleges in Britain.
